8 Horrible WWE Returns That Absolutely Nobody Asked For

6. Road Warrior Animal (2005)

A tag team legend he may be, but there was no need for Animal to return for a legacy-denting run in 2005.

It began in July. WWE Tag Team Champions MNM challenged him to a title fight at the upcoming Great American Bash pay-per-view, and thus commenced the entirely destructive Legion Of Doom revival, as Animal aligned himself with the cumbersome Heidenreich.

Animal dedicated their inevitable title win to the deceased Hawk, proclaiming "this one was for you, brother!". A sweet sentiment, but the ensuing run was tedious. Wrestling had passed Animal by, while Heidenreich was never the most convincing performer between the ropes, even in a limited powerhouse role. Rather than honouring Hawk's legacy, his involvement sullied it.

The duo eventually split, allowing Animal to go heel for a solo run as The Road Warrior, though he gained little traction as a singles wrestler and was soon relegated to Velocity. Finally, in June 2006, he was released.

Likely brought back because his brother, John Laurinaitis, was Head of Talent Relations at the time, Animal was too physically diminished to make any kind of mark, and couldn't be carried by his goofy partner.
