8 Horribly Outdated Wrestling Acts

1. Robbie E

I’m not sure if I should feel bad for Rob Strauss for being stuck with the Robbie E gimmick, or question why he’s never begged to have it changed (unless he’s fine with it, which makes things extra weird).

You see kids, Jersey Shore was an inexplicably popular show in 2009. Times were simpler then, and much worse. Robbie was given the gimmick of The Shore, along with his manager Cookie, which was a play-off of future WWE WrestleMania competitor Snooki.

You can kind of see what TNA was going for there, and wanting to play off of some pop culture nonsense, but I’m not sure anyone in the company got the memo...that Jersey Shore ended in 2012!

Yet here we are in 2016 with Robbie E still in the unbelievably stupid act. The only difference is he's added Jessie Godderz to it. Can't he look around at the roster and see that others are trying different things? Just look at Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Abyss, Crazzy Steve, Aron Rex, Drew Galloway and Lashley all changing up their characters to different levels of success.

Robbie E is talented, so he should have re-branded himself years ago, but he never did it. Honestly, it's probably too late at this point to take him seriously.

But, if he does choose to mix things up, he should probably take something with more shelf life than an MTV reality show.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
