8 HUGE WWE Backlash 2023 Predictions You Need To Know

6. Seth "Freakin" Rollins Vs. Omos

A bewildering encounter on paper got even weirder when WWE elected to add almost no background information to the match beyond Seth Rollins challenging himself to get something good out of his mammoth opponent.

In reality, WWE should be doing much more of this. The wrestling company booking wrestling matches shouldn’t scan as such a shock, and AEW have proven countless times over the last four years that fixtures can and should be part of the fun - the kayfabe contrasts are the exciting elements here, and just how exactly Rollins even gets Omos to one knee let alone two for a potential match-winning stomp should be enough to carry the entire thing.

Added to that is the momentum of the ‘Drip God’ specifically at present. On house shows, WWE have been experimenting with how long crowds will sing his entrance theme as the former Shield man simply stands there and basks in it. It’s a great bit, feels destined for television, and might well get rolled out and/or broken up at Backlash.

It’s all got tremendous freak show appeal, and if it advances beyond that from a quality POV, Rollins can toast yet another remarkable achievement in this wildly successful persona.

Winner - Seth Rollins
