8 Interesting Observations From TNA Live In York, PA

2. The Hardy Boyz Are Perpetually Over

It would not have been ludicrous to suggest that stepping away from the bright lights of WWE would have somehow diminished the connection Matt and Jeff Hardy had with wrestling fans around the globe. After all, a company such as TNA is much less visible than the McMahon-owned company, its show on Destination America far less accessible than Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. As anyone who has attended a TNA live event can attest to, though, the brothers who made up two-thirds of Team Extreme remain one of the most over acts in the sport. Thursday night's show supported that statement. From Jeff generating a tremendous ovation as he stepped through the curtain to serve as EC3's personal assistant to Matt's arrival for the world heavyweight title main event, they proved that neither age nor a smaller stage can diminish the intense personal connection they have with the fans that have watched them develop from WWE's underage jobbers to industry giants and one of the greatest teams of all time. They moved the most merchandise, drew the most fans and were the most popular act on the show, bar none. If rumors of a potential return to WWE are in fact true, the reaction the Dudley Boyz received upon their return will be child's play compared to that of Matt and Jeff Hardy when they step through the curtain.

Erik Beaston is a freelance pro wrestling writer who likes long walks in the park, dandelions and has not quite figured out that this introduction is not for Match.com. He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
