8 Lessons WWE Could Learn From The MCU

5. Believable Villains With Clear Motives

Something that WWE really struggle with is establishing motives for their villains, or heels. Very rarely do we see heels with any motivation outside of "this city sucks!" or "you smell!", and it leads us to not believe them as characters. That's not the way real people think, speak, or act.

This is something that the MCU has absolutely nailed. A stellar cast of villains makes the actions of the heroes mean so much more. It also makes the entire plot much more interesting than just having a generic bad guy.

In Infinity War and Endgame, we saw a human side to Thanos, which made him empathetic (to an extent), despite his status as the Big Bad of the franchise. Compare this to WWE's equivalent, Brock Lesnar. What do we know about him other than he likes to fight people? Does he have a motivation? A storyline? A character? Not really.

The Fiend got so close to this before being ruined by that Hell in a Cell finish. But what Bray Wyatt has shown is that people love a villain they can really analyse. Give someone a heel turn with a very clear objective and motive, and you will see the fans truly buy into the character.
