8 Major Problems With Brock Lesnar Vs. Jinder Mahal

1. The India Tour

WWE’s tour of India was almost going to go down in history as one of the great myths. When Jinder won the WWE Championship, commentators all over the globe said that it was only because of an impending tour of the sub-continent. There was only one issue there; the tour hadn’t actually been booked. It was eventually announced to take place in December, although debate still rages over whether or not two dates equal a tour.

Jinder Mahal has already spent time in India doing the media rounds, and he is clearly going to be presented as one of the major stars of the tour. If he needs to be booked as strongly as possible heading into the trip, why is he going up against the man with the strongest booking in all of professional wrestling?

The match itself can only feasibly go a small number of ways, and none of them see Jinder coming out on top. What message does it send to India to have the great national hope destroyed by Lesnar on the eve of the shows in New Delhi?

The idea gets thrown around a little too often, but WWE has well and truly booked themselves into a corner with this prospective match. Jinder’s push has been forced at best, but thrusting him onto a pedestal with Brock Lesnar, a pedestal that he clearly isn’t ready for, will only hinder the two men, the company’s prospects in the sub-continent, and booking plans going forward. This is a mistake.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
