Now we've come to one of the most salacious backstage rumors of the last decade, featuring an alleged love triangle that reportedly derailed a once-promising career. There was a time when John Morrison was thought to be a superstar that WWE could build around, but this real-life situation was thought to have put an end to that. He was romantically linked to a WWE diva, who was also the valet for his tag teams MNM and Miz and Morrison. But, like most wrestling relationships that go from behind the scenes to in front of the cameras, this one was doomed to fail (at least temporarily). Batista is a self-admitted womanizer and, according to both he and Melina, at no point did their relationship get physical until after she and Morrison were were no longer together. Melina claims that she was dealing with a lot of bullying backstage and Batista was her knight in shining armour, sticking up for her when others wouldn't. She says that the persistent rumors are what eventually led to she and Morrison calling it quits after dating on and off for eleven years. There are others who dispute that version of events. Brian Kendrick and Paul London - admittedly not exactly symbols of clear-headed thought processes - claim that the two were definitely having an affair and that it was an open secret. They say that Morrison felt he was in a position where he had to allow it if he wanted to avoid damaging his career, and in return he lost the respect of the entire locker room and the boss himself. Who knows what the actual truth of the matter is, but it's obvious the entire situation was ugly and caused a lot of bad feelings between colleagues.
