8 Massively Underrated AEW Entrance Themes
4. Tay-Jay - Fight
The coupling of Anna Jay and Tay Conti came about during AEW’s Deadly Draw, a tournament that randomly paired sixteen female performers into tag teams. It has become something of a quirk in AEW’s history given that a) it didn’t lead to anything logical (such as women’s tag team championships) b) one of the co-winners (Ivelisse) became persona non grata and was fired for the company for her lack of professionalism and c) most of the competitors roped in for it (including former Funkadactyl Cameron and backstage interviewer/ring announcer Dasha) have not been seen in a company ring since.
Jay and Conti teamed together as recently as February, though it can be presumed that they’ve quietly disbanded given the latter’s partnering and forced heel turn with Sammy Guevara. Such a move robs us of a theme that is superior to either ‘Queenslayer’ or ‘Shake Shake’ that they use individually.
‘Fight’ is a high-octane piece akin to stage music in a fighting game, helped by the announcer at the start. If the pair’s hugely bloody match against Allie and Penelope Ford on Rampage at the start of the year was its swansong, it went out on a high.
