8 Mind-Blowing Early Versions Of Famous Wrestling Tag Teams

5. The Headbangers

The Headbangers were never a top tier tag team in the WWE, but were very much over in the early days of the Attitude Era. Their schtick was that of two heavy metal enthusiasts who liked to paint their faces and wear skirts.

Later in their career, as the gimmick became more comedic, they also wore bras over their t-shirts and lifted up their skirts to flash the crowd their boxer shorts. Why? Because it was the '90s, and why the hell not?

But amazingly, The Headbangers gimmick was far from the most embarrassing thing Charles Warrington (Mosh) and Glenn Ruth (Thrasher) ever did. For a brief time in the beginning of their WWE careers, they wrestled under the moniker of The Flying Nuns, which was inexplicably based on a sitcom of the same name from the late '60s.

As their name implied, they dressed like actual nuns, wearing full habits and blessing their opponents (and the crowd) by miming "prayer hands". After wrestling a few matches like that, it must've been a relief to wear a bra.
