8 MORE Stupid Reasons Wrestlers Turned Heel

7. Eugene Demands Special Treatment

The character of Eugene has not aged well over the last 15 or so years.

Brought in as the 'special' nephew of Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff, the persona was an awful and shameful attempt at turning intellectual disability into one big joke.

Yet, Nick Dinsmore always tried to do what he could with this insensitive character and he was clearly invested in the idea of Eugene finally turning heel in 2006. The turn came after he lost a tag team match with partner 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan against The Spirit Squad, with the match stipulation being that the losing unit had to split up.

This clearly upset Eugene and he completely laid waste to the WWE Hall of Famer, beating him to a pulp with his own famous 2x4. However, a few weeks later it became clear during Val Venis' 'Kiss Cam' segment that the character was essentially angry because he wasn't receiving special treatment. During the exchange, Eugene demanded a kiss from two women and then lashed out at Venis when he didn't get what he wanted, all while screaming 'I'm special!'

WWE quickly sensed this angle was a seriously bad idea and dropped the change in attitude soon after the 'Kiss Cam' attack. Yet, this turn probably shouldn't have even got past the pitching stage and sits as another reminder of just how offensive the Eugene character was as both a face and heel.
