8 Most Desired Fights For UFC Vs. Bellator Supercard

5. Michael Venom Page Vs. Stephen Thompson

One of the things that makes karate-influenced striking so popular amongst MMA fans is the scarcity in which it is utilised by elite fighters at the highest levels of the sport. However, it just so happens that two of the best karatekas in the game both fight at 170lbs and both would be eligible to compete on this hypothetical event.

The principle difference between Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson and Michael 'Venom' Page in terms of their MMA careers, is the quality of opposition that they have faced. Wonderboy has been fighting the elite of the welterweight division since 2014, including wins over Jorge Masvidal, Rory MacDonald, and Robert Whitaker. The American also came within inches of winning UFC gold on two separate occasions, just falling short in fights against then UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.

MVP, on the other hand, has had much less experience competing with the elite fighters at 170lbs. Page's biggest career win came in 2019 with a contentious decision over Paul Daley, and, despite early successes, he was brutally finished by Bellator champ Douglas Lima in the second round when the two fought last year.

Prediction: While MVP may have flashier finishes than his opponent, Thompson has shown a much more well-rounded style that has brought him success in the Octagon. Thompson's elusive defence would goad Page into making a mistake leading to a second round stoppage for the American.
