8 Most Desired Fights For UFC Vs. Bellator Supercard
4. Patricio Freire Vs. Alexander Volkanovski
For the uninitiated, Patricio 'Pitbull' Freire may just be the best featherweight on planet earth right now. In 2019 he made history by defeating fellow hypothetical super card competitor Michael Chandler to become Bellator's first-ever simultaneous two-weight world champion. Pitbull is also unbeaten in over three years, with victories over Bellator stalwarts Daniel Straus, Emmanuel Sanchez, and Daniel Weichel.
His opponent here, Alexander Volkanovski, is no slouch either. After losing his fourth fight while competing at 170lbs, the former rugby player has moved down to the featherweight division and amassed a seriously impressive 16 fight win streak that he capped off with a victory over long-reigning UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway back in December. Volkanovski went from a relative unknown in the UFC to dethroning one of the greatest featherweights of all time, so while he may be at an experience disadvantage in terms of cage-time in this bout, he has certainly shown that he isn't fazed performing under the bright lights in the big show.
Prediction: Volkanovski has surprised many MMA analysts during his UFC tenure, with his last three wins seeing him marked before the fight as the betting underdog. However, Pitbull carries serious power for the lower weight classes, which would be enough to hand the Australian only his second-ever loss by TKO stoppage in the third round.
