8 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (Feb 3)

1. Vince McMahon Doesn't Know What To Do With John Cena At WrestleMania

Cena S Bloody Head
WWE

How times have changed.

Everything used to be built around Cena - to such a crippling extent that the product suffered for years. If a midcard talent like Sheamus had the audacity not to develop a lasting main event presence having been positioned in the midcard a month prior to his sudden late 2009 main event promotion, Cena was there to reestablish the status quo.

Cena was at the forefront of everything for the vast majority of his main event run. When WWE ran out of heels to oppose him, in the summer of 2012, the company instead turned the equally popular CM Punk heel purely to give him something to do for a few months before his WrestleMania XXIX rematch with The Rock. It mattered little to WWE that their merchandise numbers took a hit. Cena still sent shirts flying out of the warehouse.

And yet, in February 2017, Cena's Road To WrestleMania is obscured by fog. Roman Reigns has been given his mooted match opposite The Undertaker. Rumoured replacement Samoa Joe debuted on RAW, to the surprise of everyone. Who's left? Randy Orton? Baron Corbin? Maryse?!

McMahon is notoriously capricious - but not when it comes to Cena. That he is something of an afterthought is more than an insane development - it is unprecedented. More mental still is that Vince McMahon decided NOW is the time to have him tie Ric Flair's fictitious World Title record.
