8 Most Memorable WWE Father/Son Moments

3. Dusty & Dustin Rhodes

Whilst cheering his dad on in a match against Randy Savage during a 1990 episode of Saturday Night Main Event, Dustin Rhodes found his night's entertainment repeatedly interrupted by the grubby, greedy pair of 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase and lackey Virgil.

For his ringside seat, they'd pay him a cool $100. It was an offer Dustin refused, but the monied menaces ended up sitting next to him anyway. Inevitably, an altercation ensued, resulting in the younger Rhodes bleeding as if he were in Las Vegas.

Sure enough, pa' was having none of it, and after a surprisingly even bout between novice Dustin and DiBiase, father and son teamed to take on Ted and bodyguard Virgil at Royal Rumble '91.

Unfortunately, it ended in failure - of a sort. Though the Rhodes lost their blow-off, behind the scenes Dusty was about to give his son a much bigger leg-up. Having already agreed to leave WWE for a Head Booker position in WCW, he advised his son to follow him down to Georgia, where he could make him a star. The two did their duty, and once alighted in Atlanta, Dusty began pushing 'The Natural' to the moon, until a personal falling out put the skids on their working relationship.

Almost quarter of a century later, with everybody having kissed and made up, Dusty put his NXT position on the line to win not just Dustin's but his other son Cody's jobs back with WWE. The pair came through for their father - but not before Dusty could deliver one last Bionic Elbow to an unfortunate Dean Ambrose.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
