8 Most Underrated Texas Wrestlers
1. Paul London
Paul London is a performer who got signed a WWE contract about ten years too early. The student of the Shawn Michaels Texas Wrestling Academy made his name wrestling for the likes of Ring of Honor and NWA: TNA before he was snapped up by the E in summer 2003.
Despite the company having an actual cruiserweight division at the time and many talented guys with whom London could work with, such as Tajiri, Jamie Noble and Rey Mysterio, expectations weren't exactly high.
When London was murdered by Brock Lesnar in his WWE TV debut, it seemed to cement just how the powers that be viewed London and where he would likely remain for the remainder of his WWE tenure.
London enjoyed a Cruiserweight Title reign, a lengthy WWE Tag Team Championship reign with real-life best friend Brian Kendrick and not a great deal else. His WWE run was characterised by good matches and nothing in the way of a serious push.
The Shooting Star Press and 450 Splash expert had a tendency to speak his mind, which didn't sit well with his superiors, and was a factor in his 2007 release. The writing had been on the wall for a while, mind you, as WWE were using him for little more than dark match, house show and squash match duty.
Since leaving WWE, London has wrestled all over the world and has helped to repair his reputation as a superlative worker. He recently became an agent/producer with the red-hot Lucha Underground promotion, so perhaps his future in wrestling lies behind-the-scenes.
The 35-year-old high-flyer from Austin, Texas certainly still has a lot to offer.
