8 Movies You Didn't Know Almost Starred WWE Superstars

6. Sgt. Slaughter - G.I. Joe: Retaliation

It has to be said, Sgt. Slaughter pretty much made G.I. Joe the immensely popular series it was in the 80s. Everyone had their favorite G.I. Joe character, and for roughly 80% of the kids watching, that character was Sgt. Slaughter. (He's also one of the best-selling action figures based on the series.) Ironically enough, it was a dispute over merchandising that ultimately stopped him from appearing the live-action G.I. Joe movies decades later. According to an interview with Slaughter, the character of General Joseph Colton (played by Bruce Willis) from G.I. Joe: Retalliation was intended for Sarge, but licensing issues with Mattel caused the studio to pull a last-minute script switch, opting for Willis instead. After all, what's the point of making a G.I. Joe movie if you can't fully cash in on the merchandising campaign? To rub more salt in the wounds of what never was, there would have been a scene between The Rock and Sgt. Slaughter had the original plan remained in place.
