8 New Directions For New WWE Champion Bray Wyatt

5. WrestleMania 33: Cut The Head Off The Viper

As if we didn’t already know, last night confirmed that Randy Orton will challenge Bray Wyatt, not John Cena, for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33. There are a number of ways this match could potentially go, but the most beneficial outcome involves Bray winning cleanly.

Orton is one of WWE’s most trusted wrestlers, but does he really need another title run at this stage in his career? He’s already a 12-time world champion, and while Orton still has plenty to give, his next big step should be putting Wyatt over, not kicking him down the ladder.

No interferences, no supernatural nonsense, no distractions: just a clear pinfall victory for the new WWE Champion. It’d do Orton (whose place in history is already secured) no harm whatsoever, and beating a future Hall of Famer so decisively would really send Bray to the next level. After all the harmful booking he has endured throughout the WWE run, it’s nothing less than deserved.

The Wyatt/Orton story has been rumbling on since August, and WrestleMania is the perfect place to end it. Their previous feud didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but Orton’s forthcoming betrayal should breathe new life into the second chapter. If WWE play their cards right, this match is going to be white-hot, and the fans will go nuts for it. They probably won’t close the show, but Orton vs. Wyatt should be a huge deal, and in the end, the Eater of Worlds should be standing tall.
