8 New Directions For WWE Champion Jinder Mahal

7. Make Him The Centerpiece

Jinder’s lack of in-ring credibility is a valid complaint, and one of his biggest issues. He was one of the lowest workers on the WWE totem pole prior to his push, and his lack of victories makes it impossible to perceive him as one of the best wrestlers in the world, and someone worthy of holding the industry’s top prize on merit.

Jinder may never be the most credible wrestler on the roster, but he needs to be treated as if he’s the most important guy in the company. SmackDown should be built around him, at least for the next few weeks, and it could start with an over-the-top, outlandish title celebration on this week’s show.

Unless he makes drastic improvements in his in-ring performances as champion, Mahal’s never going to be viewed in the same way as an AJ Styles or John Cena. Thus, the best way to book him is by following the traditional heel champion archetype, with lots of distractions, diversions, and avoidance tactics. He should win every match he’s involved in, but only by taking as many shortcuts as possible. This ought to result in him becoming the brand’s most reviled villain, and set him up for an infinitely more satisfying fall.
