8 New Roles That Would Revive Stale WWE Talent
7. Cesaro - SmackDown Solo
A fantastic in-ring performer, an intelligent human being, and a legitimate athlete, Cesaro should be locking horns with the Lesnars and Cenas of the world. Instead, he's been given repeatedly halfhearted solo pushes and placed in a misfit tag team when his singles run inevitably doesn't work out.
The fact 'The Swiss Superman' has managed to make a success out of every misfit tag team he has been part of proves just how good he really is. However, while Cesaro is without doubt a fantastic in-ring performer, his consistent ring work is seeing him gain a reputation as a mechanic.
Steve Austin had the same issue in the mid-'90s before he broke out and became 'Stone Cold'. If Cesaro becomes viewed as merely a "good hand", his position on the card could freeze and he could become another steady mid-carder that never reaches his headline potential - much like Val Venis, Ken Shamrock, and even Scott Hall.
Cesaro needs to find himself as a character and the best way for that to happen is to be thrown into the deep end as a solo heel on SmackDown. A change of scenery with new opposition would do wonders for the 'King of Swing' and a reunion with Paul Heyman after Lesnar steps back after 'Mania would be the dream start.
