8 Next Generation WWE Superstars And The Roles They'll Play

8. Cesaro

While Cesaro may seem an odd choice to lump in with the supposed Next Generation, the pick actually makes a great deal of sense when broken down. While the Swiss superstar has been on the main WWE roster since April of 2012, he is the perfect embodiment of the new movement within the company. Cesaro -- back when he still had Antonio as his first name -- got off to a bit of a slow start within the WWE. Despite winning the United States Championship shortly after his debut, Cesaro came across as nothing special. While fans of the former-Claudio Castagnoli knew that he had what it took, a large portion of WWE€™s more casual fan-base was unconvinced. As time wore on -- and Cesaro€™s gimmick went through a handful of changes -- the Swiss superstar began to break into the upper echelons of WWE. Following a massive victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX, Cesaro seemed poised to break into the main event scene. Unfortunately, he was quickly paired with Paul Heyman -- a move that did little to nothing for the up-and-coming superstar. Thankfully, Cesaro has since left Heyman in the dust, however, he has remained relatively stagnant since his big win at Mania. Despite his stay on the main roster, Cesaro has became the embodiment of NXT. While Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn have became the division€™s breakout stars, Cesaro represents to a larger audience what fans can expect in the future. His hard-hitting, no-nonsense style is indicative of the attitude and mentality of the NXT Five. They are all hungry for success, and Cesaro€™s continually growing role on the main roster is setting an example for his NXT brethren. For better or worse, Cesaro has become the leader of the Next Generation movement. If he continues to prove his worth and grow within the world of WWE, it will open the door for similar superstars to break through the glass ceiling of NXT.
