8 Next Generation WWE Superstars And The Roles They'll Play

2. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has quickly solidified himself as arguably the standout star from NXT. While Adrian Neville has been able to attain and hold onto the NXT Championship, Zayn has delighted fans with both his spirit and in-ring performances since his debut. The former El Generico didn€™t come across as the typical WWE superstar, but as Sami Zayn, he has proved himself to be a beacon of hope for the company. Zayn€™s light shines bright, and he undoubtedly has a bright future in WWE. During his time in NXT, Sami has continually put on all-star performances inside the ring. He achieved his first taste of acclaim via his series of contests with Cesaro. The two superstars put on a consistent string of mat classics that had fans on their feet. During NXT€™s first WWE Network live special, Zayn took Cesaro to the limit, but was ultimately bested by the former United States Champion. While Sami Zayn is an extremely talented and passionate performer, he has unfortunately, become best known as the guy who can never quite win the big one. During the most recent NXT special -- Takeover II: Fatal 4-Way -- Zayn nearly won the titular match, but was ultimately undone by his friend and defending champion, Adrian Neville. Sami€™s plight has helped to make him one of the most beloved underdogs in the wrestling world. The NXT Universe is pushing for Zayn in a fashion similar to the WWE Universe€™s support of Daniel Bryan. Zayn has to be careful, however, as he runs the risk of coming across as too much of a bland, white meat, babyface upon his main roster debut. While longtime fans of the superstar know that he is anything but bland, his recent booking in NXT has seen him turn into a prototypical good guy. He needs to bring some of his more atypical personality quirks to the forefront and develop a bit more of an attitude -- something which he€™s been hinting at following his loss at the Takeover II: Fatal 4-Way special.
