Lance Storm told an incredible tale recently to Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Daily. For those that went undrafted, you may ask how they found out what show they would be working on. McMahon told those performers that they would have to check WWE.com after Raw to find out where they would be continuing their employment at. Seriously.

WWE wanted to drive web traffic, so they posted updates for the random selection phase in intervals on the website. In the days before smart phones with internet capability, Storm had to call a friend in Washington state and he, Jericho, and Christian sat for an hour while that friend (independent wrestler Dr. Luther) refreshed his browser every few minutes to let them know what show they would be on.

Instead of just telling Storm "You're on Smackdown", he had to find out his fate from a non-employee through a midnight phone call.
