Soska Sisters The success of any film can be attributed to the director and how they take the original work and adapt it to give it their own, original spin on the screen. The very best can take a mediocre story or, in some cases, a truly awful one, and adjust it to the point that it makes an entertaining or even good film. With See No Evil 2, the Soska Twins took a script by Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby, worked within its confines, but crafted a movie that went beyond the "killer chases stupid kids" film that so many children of the 1980s became accustomed to during the height of the slasher craze. They added a giant set of balls and elicited some very heartfelt interactions between the characters, then upped the suspense and even added a hint of comedy to really deliver a melting pot of awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1d5pUtbS3U Suspense is something incredibly difficult to create. Only the most skilled of directors can actually make the audience feel the same sense of danger that the characters they are watching feel and Jen and Sylvia succeed in doing so in SNE2. Never, during the entire 90-minute running time, does the viewer feel safe. Just like Jacob Goodnight could be lurking around the corner, ready to pop out and filet Amy, Seth or any of their friends, he could be ready to pop up from behind your sofa and put his massive fleshing knife through the back of your head. It is that feeling danger that made some of the most classic slasher flicks so fun to watch. As Kane mentions during the disc's special features, people like to be scared and the talented twin sisters do a hell of a job of satisfying that enjoyment.
