8 Reasons Shane McMahon Vs. The Undertaker Just Didn't Work

6. Shane's Outwrestling The Undertaker

I understand that with Shane McMahon matches, you have to suspend more disbelief than you're normally used to. As someone that's sat through a few Air Bud movies, I understand that it can be charming to see an 'outsider' co-opt enough athletic skill to defy the odds in a clutch situation. Sometimes, Shane O'Mac fits that bill.

But against The Undertaker? He's escaping Hell's Gate (which hardly anyone does) and turning it into the sharpshooter (which nobody does). It doesn't help that in this age of evolutionary wrestling, particularly with the NXT call-ups turning the wheel, that a 46-year-old caked in ring rust is going to look positively awkward going through the motions of a 'main event style' match. This is why it'd have been better if somebody interfered for him: to cover for his weaknesses.
