8 Reasons Why Billy Corgan Buying TNA Is Best For Business

5. WWE Only Want The Tape Library

If nothing else, the lack of encouraging alternatives sees Billy Corgan stand alone as TNA’s only logical savior at this point. There’s always the chance that another bidder will emerge, but Ring of Honor’s parent company (Sinclair Broadcasting) appear to have left the race, leaving only two other options: the Carter family’s constant drip of last-minute funding, and WWE.

There is precisely one argument in favour of a WWE takeover: getting the TNA tape library on the Network. That’s it.

There’s a chance that the McMahons may take-on a couple of TNA contracts, but for the most part, they’ll shut TNA down as soon as the deal goes through. They’re a cutthroat organisation hell-bent on strengthening their monopoly status, and maintaining Impact Wrestling as a going concern makes no financial sense to them.

Corgan can prevent this from happening, however. As great as it’d be to have TNA’s vast library available on the Network, the negatives of a WWE takeover greatly outweigh the positives, and such a move would only be bad for business.
