8 Reasons Why Goldberg Vs. Lesnar Was Completely Terrible For Business
1. That Spot Should Have Gone To Someone Else
WWE has had been plenty of opportunities to really make someone a star, but they keep showing fear and giving up.
They refused to let The Nexus go over Cena. They wouldn’t let CM Punk go over Triple H. They wouldn’t let someone young and hungry beat The Undertaker's streak, and now they didn't let a full-time act be the one to dethrone Lesnar.
Any wrestler on the roster would have greatly benefited from beating Brock so decisively. Even though fans may have rioted if Cena was the one to do it, he’ll at least be around for a few years to have justified the win. Otherwise, Kevin Owens would have been a great choice for when he turns face. They could have gone all-in on Seth Rollins earning that victory, Finn Balor could have done it when he returns, or maybe a newly debuted Shinsuke Nakamura could have manhandled Lesnar. That would have produced a big star in exactly one night. But WWE went with Goldberg.
It seems incredibly unlikely that Goldberg even has 10 matches left in him. Maybe not even 5. That’s what WWE sacrificed Brock Lesnar for?
Okay then, now who is Goldberg going to put over and make look like a million bucks? Considering he never did that for anyone throughout his entire career in any meaningful way, it seems we shouldn’t get our hopes up.
WWE wanted to make a statement, and they chose the completely wrong person to do it. Opportunities like this only come around so often, and they once again blew it. We probably shouldn't have expected otherwise.
