Following WrestleMania I wondered out loud if the Dallas supercard was evidence that Vince McMahon has completely lost touch with the wants and needs of his audience.

Throughout the night it felt like being force-fed salad when you ordered steak, with the nefarious chef standing cackling in the corner.

Raw was the chance for WWE to pay penance by offering up a sumptuous dessert that removed all of the bad taste left over from that unsatisfying main course.

Did it manage to do that? Not really.

8. WWE Are Blind To The Truth

I suspected we were in for a rough night immediately when the first thing that came out of the gaping wound in JBL€™s face that he calls a mouth was a McMahon-penned diatribe about how the post-WrestleMania Raw crowd is unpredictable. They boo the people they usually cheer, and cheer the people they usually boo, he reckoned. While that is true to a degree, it is a typically WWE-ized version of what actually happens.

Fans don€™t boo the faces and cheer the heels, they boo the people they think are over-pushed and not worthy of their spots, and cheer their favourites who work hard and seem to never get the opportunity to grab one of Vince€™s mythical brass rings. If Vince really does think this is a one off, then he is more deluded than I thought; the fan response is like this every single week - it is merely amplified by the post-Mania crowd.

The author of the highly acclaimed 'Titan' book series, James Dixon has been involved in the wrestling business for 25 years as a fan, wrestler, promoter, agent, and writer. James spent several years wrestling on the British independent circuit, but now prefers to write about the bumps and bruises rather than take any of them. His past in-ring experience does however give a uniquely more "insider" perspective on things, though he readily admits to still being a "mark" at heart. James is the Chief Editor and writer at historyofwrestling.co.uk and is responsible for the best-selling titles Titan Sinking, Titan Shattered, and Titan Screwed, as well as the Complete WWF Video Guide series, and the Raw Files series.
