8 Reasons Why Last Night's WWE Raw Failed To Live Up To The Hype
3. The Miz Situation
The only thing the segment with Zack Ryder and The Miz will be driving is the fans away. The response to Zack when he came out at first was flat, because he has been beaten like a drum for so long that his credibility is forever shattered. He was over once upon a time, but the fans as noted are fickle. Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, et al beware.
The minute Ryder won the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania I suspected his reign would be short. I half-expected him to lose the belt on Raw, but I thought WWE would maybe hold off for a few weeks and actually give Ryder chance to run with the brief push he was finally being afforded. Why am I ever optimistic that WWE will do things right?
Of course they beat him immediately, and of course it was at the hands of the utterly abject Miz. I didnt think it was possible, but they actually managed to pull off a booking decision even worse than some of those they made at WrestleMania.
Is there a more intolerable worker on the roster right now than Miz? Every time I hear that Vader story about how his eyeball came out of its socket while he was working with Stan Hansen in Japan, but he carried on regardless, I think of the Miz. What would the Miz do in that situation? Cry, probably. Wrestlers used to be badasses who fans would flee from in terror. Now, they are The Miz. What a horrid thing.
That Ryder fell for the trick of being goaded into a match only further highlights how dumb all of WWEs babyfaces are. There used to be an unwritten rule in wrestling that the heel can look stupid but the babyface never should. Somewhere amidst the sea of failed Hollywood writers who dont know squat about wrestling, that has long since been abandoned.
