8 Reasons Why Today's WWE Raw Is WCW In Disguise
5. Shady, Screwy Finishes
At Fastlane, we saw screwy finishes in three of the four title matches on the show.
First, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson cheated in their win over Enzo & Cass, although at least that finish fitted their act. Later in the show, we saw the women’s champion Bayley—a babyface, remember—retain her title after Sasha Banks interfered on her behalf. Then in the PPV’s main event, a heel was one again screwed out of the title an account of a distraction. Not to mention the fact that the actual match lasted a mere matter of seconds…
And it’s not just at Fastlane we’ve seen such shenanigans: each of Kevin Owens’ final four defences of his Universal Championship ended with either an interference, a DQ finish, or both.
It all harks back to the days of WCW when we saw shady, screwy finishes and run-ins aplenty, as well as the infamous Fingerpoke of Doom match in which Hulk Hogan won the World title after pinning Kevin Nash following a poke to the chest in a two-minute main event non-match.
Another relatable similarity, and not a welcome one at that.
