4. It's More Than A Wrestling Show

The vast majority of people outside of wrestling circles probably couldn't complete the terms €œRoyal blank€ or €œSurvivor blank,€ but everybody knows WrestleMania. Over the course of four decades, the event has transcended the grappling world and become not only a household name, but almost a piece of Americana pop culture. Nowadays, when 'Mania rolls around with its days of fan Axxess events and increased media attention, there's an atmosphere not unlike a Grand Prix or an Olympic village. It's a happening, it's an extravaganza, and as long as WWE is even moderately healthy as a corporation, it's going to continue to be a mainstay in American culture. With so much public visibility around the event, it's hard to imagine WWE failing miserably enough to undo all the hoopla that it naturally generates. It has so much momentum behind it, it's up there with all manner of festivals as an experience that goes beyond the sum of its performances. To echo an earlier point, even if it turns out to be terrible, the prevailing attitude is less €œwhat does this mean for next year?€ and more €œthere's always next year...".
