8 Reasons WWE Needs To Reunite The Shield

3. The Element Of Surprise

The Shield Debut

When The Shield first arrived on the scene, you knew they were coming but could never be sure exactly where from. Okay, so they generally came out of the crowd from the same spot, but you get the point. They would attack out of nowhere, cutting down the big trees through a mixture of intensity and surprise. As a WWE TV viewer you knew The Shield would be involved at some point, but the beauty was in the not-knowing.

It is something that WWE TV misses. Sure, the marauding and invading faction story gets old after a while, but there was always something different about The Shield. Once they had made their in-ring debut and had entrance music this was exacerbated, as not many things changed the mood of a segment better than hearing that iconic Sierra-Hotel-India-Echo-Lima-Delta.

The Shield brought an anything can happen feel to WWE TV, a feel that is sorely missing today.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
