8 Reasons WWE Needs To Reunite The Shield

4. Their Babyface Run Was Cut Short

The idea of a militant trio working as babyfaces was a strange one, but for a few brief months in 2014 this became a reality. Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins turned face less because of a change in their own actions but more because of the men they now found themselves facing in the ring. First they took on The Wyatt Family, in one of the greatest short feuds in recent memory, following by a series of matches where the trio absolutely dominated Evolution.

They weren’t pure faces, but the crowd was fully behind them nonetheless. The face run was cut short when Rollins slammed a chair into the back of his brethren, and whilst it is often wise to keep things brief there was definitely a feeling that the Shield had more legs in them on the good side.

If the trio were to officially reunite at this point in time it would be under strange circumstances, and they would almost certainly be regarded as faces initially. This wouldn’t quite be as organic as their original run, but a babyface Shield dishing out justice could be just what WWE TV needs.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
