Sheamus winning last year's match left many viewers feeling cynical, and not in the traditional, "Aw man, he's a heel and I don't want him to win," way. Fans have become accustomed to pulling for the hardest workers and the most dynamic performers, less so WWE's personal preferences for main eventers. When someone like Sheamus wins, and they hold the briefcase for an extended period of time, it becomes hard to get excited about the eventual title match.

That's been a serious issue with WWE's product, the prolonged pushes for less-than-desired performers. Randy Orton has a decent share of support, but diehard fans are wary of him due to overexposure, and his tendency to topple their personal favorites.

When he won a briefcase in 2013, fans resigned themselves to the idea that his eventual cash-in would irk them.
