8 Reasons You Need To Start Watching TNA Again

5. Less Emphasis On Authority

TNA still could definitely improve in this area, but they’re light years better off than where they used to be. For years, Impact was a chore to sit through, because they were so ridiculously over-focused on authority figures. The power battles never ended, and they were never interesting. It was one thing from WWE they absolutely shouldn’t have copied.

We had Hulk Hogan taking up half-a-dozen segments every week on the show, choking the life out of the product. No one could get over with Hulkster still being the end-all-be-all. Things somehow got worse when Dixie Carter turned heel, and started being the featured performer of the show. MVP was a nice change for a bit...until he turned heel and battled Dixie. It was awful.

These days Dixie has gone back to being a face. While she is still on TV too much, she’s tolerable. Billy Corgan has also joined on as a guy who dishes out orders. He lends the company a bit of a celebrity touch, but his character is frustratingly inconsistent. Personally, I'll still take him over a 20 minute Stephanie or Hunter promo any day.

While there is still progress to be made, TNA has taken some nice steps forward on putting the spotlight back on the wrestlers.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
