8 Signs The Undertaker Is Retiring At WrestleMania 33
5. 'The Wince'
Whether or not this was simply a pained grimace caused by Taker’s deteriorating hip, or an incredibly savvy piece of in-ring story-telling (please be the latter), ‘the wince’ The Undertaker did before receiving Roman’s spear on the 20th March said a great deal in a small amount of time.
Taker had turned to chokeslam Braun Strowman, and after walking into the corner (probably to alleviate some of the stress caused by lifting a human freight train), The Phenom winced, as if to say “Aw heck.”
He then turned, to see that his worst fears had been realised, and that Roman had been waiting to deliver his devastating finisher. Whatever the reasoning behind the expression, it came off as excellent foreshadowing, a way of suggesting to fans that not only is Taker’s body giving out, but his mind also isn’t what it used to be. Taker fell into the oldest trick in the spear-users book, and in doing so planted seeds of doubt as to whether or not he can physically and mentally continue to compete in a WWE ring.
