8 Simple Ways WWE Fans Can Help Improve The Product
1. Force Yourself To Believe In Kayfabe Again
1300631This one might be the most challenging, because not only does it require some heavy mental stretching, but also the ability to block out the incessant fourth-wall breaking that occupies many, if not all, of the current storylines in one form or another.
I'm not saying WWE needs to go back to the days of wrestlers choking out actual reporters who didn't believe wrestling was "real". And I certainly don't think every creepy gimmick needs to hail from Parts Unknown. But there has to be a middle ground between The Undertaker shooting lightning from his hands and The Undertaker shooting on Vince McMahon in the middle of the ring while using his real name.
The internet has happened, and we can't reverse the effects its had on our perceptions of wrestling. There's too much information out there, and there's too much winking to the audience to be able to pretend we're back in 1989 and Hulk Hogan is actually fighting for his life against Zeus.
But maybe, just maybe, we can all try to block the "real world" out during the actual shows? Maybe instead of going to Twitter to complain about poor booking, we could just let ourselves be pissed that the guy we were rooting for lost? Not lost as in "they scripted it wrong" but lost as in "he couldn't get the job done."
Basically, less live-tweeting, more believing. Put that on a shirt.
