8 Struggling WWE Stars Who Would Excel In NJPW

4. Neville

Making sense of Neville’s current situation is incredibly difficult. When Raw’s Cruiserweight Division was announced, it was widely assumed that the affable Geordie would play a starring role. His name hasn’t even been mentioned in the same breath as the Cruisers since then, however, and it looked like he was being set up in a tag team with Sami Zayn at SummerSlam, but that alliance has already dissipated.

Simply put, WWE have done nothing with Neville since his return. He’s in dire need of a change of scenery to revive his fortunes, as it’s increasingly unlikely that he’ll get any considerable opportunities to impress on Raw.

New Japan’s junior heavyweights are expected to do much more than flip and dive around the ring. Division stalwart Kushida is one of the world’s best technical wrestlers, and he and his cohorts are expected to supplement their immense athleticism with subtler attributes. This is where Neville comes in: he can do all the spectacular flippy stuff, but he’s an incredibly powerful wrestler capable of deadlifting anyone in his weight class, and his mat game is criminally underrated too.

Neville is as close to a complete junior heavyweight wrestler as you’ll find. His penchant for the spectacular is well-established, but there’s not a style he can’t wrestle, and his well-rounded skillset deserves better than to be rotting away on Raw’s reserve list.
