8 Things About Wrestling That Just Don’t Make Sense

He's on the ground out cold, why are you dancing? Pin him! Pin him!

We've all had those moments when you're sat there watching wrestling and then something happens that just makes you think to yourself €œHang on a minute, this doesn€™t make any sense whatsoever!€ It might be that you've spotted a severe flaw in the rules that the wrestlers seem completely oblivious to. Or perhaps a wrestler€™s actions in the ring are just baffling. And sometimes you€™re just left wondering how some fairly simple moves can end up being so devastating to an opponent. Obviously in most of these cases the reason behind these seemingly unexplainable instances is that they are done in the name of entertainment. We all know that in any wrestling match we watch the two wrestlers in the ring are working together in order to put on a convincing show for the audience rather than actually trying to hurt each other (although as Lewis Howse€™s excellent article earlier in the year pointed out, this isn€™t necessarily always the case!). For this reason we, as wrestling fans, allow ourselves to accept that what is going on in the ring is real as it adds to our enjoyment of the show. We let ourselves believe that the two co-workers who hang out together backstage actually hate each other guts and are trying to beat the hell out of each other. However there are some things that happen all too often in wrestling that take you right out of the moment and makes it all too obvious that what is happening in front of you is just for show. This article outlines 8 of these instances that frankly don€™t make any sense.
