8 Things About Wrestling That Just Don’t Make Sense
7. Manager Are Allowed At Ringside
Continuing with the theme of disqualifications, why is it that managers/tag team partners are still allowed at ringside during matches? It is almost a given in wrestling that if a manager is at ringside then they will, at some point in the match, illegally interfere. Often they interfere by distracting the referee on their clients behalf, allowing the client the use a foreign object or to recover after a high impact move. Again, from a storyline perspective, this all makes perfect sense as if often adds suspense to the closing stages of a match. However when you take a step back everything crumbles. Weve seen on numerous occasions that the referee has the power to send managers away from ringside and yet it doesnt happen nearly as often as it should and the manager is allowed to distract the referee several times per match. Taking a further step back, why are managers even allowed out there in the first place? You would think with the amount of the matches that have been influenced over the years by managers being present the referees might have got together backstage one day and decided to ban these people that distract them from doing their job. After all weve seen referees blamed and in some instances fired by characters in authority for allowing these distractions to influence matches, so why are they risking their livelihoods to let managers stand at ringside? It just doesnt make sense!
