5. Skip Sheffield
Before Ryback was unleashed upon WWE, a fun-loving cowboy with a ridiculous catchphrase named Skip Sheffield was making the rounds and not exactly setting the business on fire. We learned that the character was the brainchild of Dusty Rhodes, whose vision was to make Sheffield a representation of all the big, clueless jocks with no wrestling experience that WWE signs. Ryback was offended at the suggestion, but after thinking about it he decided to embrace it and make the most of the character and the opportunity he was being given. Thankfully Vince McMahon himself realized that Skip Sheffield was going nowhere and pulled him aside to tell him that the role wasn't him and that he wanted him to change slowly. The boss told him "This isn't you, you're going to make me millions of dollars being yourself".
