8 Things NXT Got Right At TakeOver: WarGames

1. The Undisputed ERA Win/Survive

Not only did the right team win, but the right man pinned the right opponent along the way. It was clear from watching this match that big things are planned for Adam Cole. The 'Panama City Playboy' was put over big by the announce team throughout, and it felt like the match was designed to make him an even bigger star than he already is.

The Undisputed ERA were the only real option to come out on top. SAnitY are an altogether fluid group that don’t necessarily need to win matches to stay at their level. Eric Young was the right man to take the fall too, as Dain and Alexander Wolfe came out of this looking like top, top stars.

The Authors of Pain are seemingly main roster bound, and Roderick Strong’s entire gimmick seems to be ‘loses big match’. The Undisputed ERA are going to be the big heel group in NXT going forward, and winning here was vital to that. Fish and O’Reilly will surely get an NXT Tag Team Championship match sooner rather than later, and all three members of the stable will likely be champions within six months.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames was another stellar show, with excellent matches and memorable moments. NXT continues to be professional wrestling done correctly, and once again WWE’s developmental brand looks to be in good health going into the new year.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
