8 Things That Could Tempt CM Punk To Make WWE Return
2. Fresh Rivalries
While the prospect of Punk renewing acquaintances with some of his old foes on the roster is a tantalising prospect in itself, the influx of fresh talent on WWE’s books today means there’d be a wide variety of new opponents for the self-proclaimed Best in the World to sink his teeth into.
The rise in prominence of NXT and the stars it’s helped create offer plenty of options immediately. From former ROH compatriots in Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn to huge new signings like AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura, there a number of dream match scenarios to pick from and you’d be surprised if any of them turned out to be anything less than very, very good.
To add to his list of gripes about his final days in WWE, Punk cited that things weren’t fresh enough for him in terms of opponents, as evidenced by the fact that they wanted to book him against HHH at WrestleMania, despite having already engaged in a previous rivalry three years prior.
There’s so much good material here about potential new opponents for him that you could fill a whole separate article about it (…*starts making notes*). Whilst he’ll have worked with some of the talent outside of WWE previously, the chance to renew acquaintances with them in the mainstream would be fantastic.
