8 Things That Could Tempt CM Punk To Make WWE Return
1. Give Him The Wrestlemania Main Event He Always Deserved
Despite competing in seven instalments of the Grandaddy of 'em all, it's fair to say that Punk never got a fair crack of the whip when it came to actually headlining WrestleMania. He did win the Money in the Bank briefcase twice and even successfully defended the WWE Title against Chris Jericho in 2012 amongst a host of other matches that ranked from good to great, but he was never in the main event, and never got the chance to close the show of shows.
Arguably the most high profile snub for the 'Mania top spot came in 2011 at WrestleMania 27, where despite clearly being the top heel going into the show, The Miz was instead chosen as the lead baddie to face off with John Cena over the WWE title.
To add to Punk's misery, the main event for the following year was already set in stone a whole year in advance between Cena and The Rock, meaning he'd once again be frozen out before even being given a chance to stake his claim for a crack at the big payday.
The promise of a 'Mania main event spot is one of the first clauses that would need to go into a new contract. Whether he wins or loses said match is another argument altogether depending on his opponent at the time, but there's no doubt that Punk could convincingly headline the show. Be it in a babyface or heel capacity, you could put him up against any of WWE's current headline acts and you'd be guaranteed a great match and a WrestleMania to remember.
