In todays WWE world of three weekly programs and monthly PPVs, the term transitional champion typically means that the titles would come off the champs in question within a matter of weeks, not months. But the Lucha Dragons have held the NXT Tag Team Championships since NXT Arrival: Fatal 4-Way in September, having knocked off the Ascension. In toppling the Ascension, Kalisto and Sin Cara ended an 11-month title reign. Their high-flying tactics are popular with the Full Sail crowd, but they havent gotten a ton of face time (not intended as a pun on being masked). Meanwhile, the Vaudevillains have been one of the more entertaining tag teams in all of WWE. Sure, the gimmick is campy and might flop in WWE, but right now, theyve got a pretty good thing going with the vignettes and overall presentation (little person humor aside). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z49t-VmI008 So the question is, will the Vaudevillains capture the gold? This could be a similar situation to the Miz and Damien Mizdow, where you have a really popular tag team act that is getting a great reaction and the company decides to pull the trigger now before the balloon deflates.
