Austin Aries, in comparison to the majority of other professional wrestlers, is pretty small. He stands under six foot, and despite being in excellent physical condition would never be considered a giant. JR concedes that wrestling is indeed a big man's business, and Aries is asked how this influenced his training and mindset when he started out.

Aries simply replies that it didn't. Despite being surrounded by bigger guys his size just didn't register. If anything he saw it as a plus, meaning he was able to do things that others weren't, that he offered something different to those around him.

It was important for Aries to 'work big', to carry himself as a big guy as opposed to initially identifying as a smaller worker. Both Ross and Aries bring up the importance of acting like the man in order to be the man. They make the point that stars such as Dynamite Kid, Pedro Morales and Bruno Sammartino became big names despite being less than six feet tall.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
