7. His Current Standing With WWE & Working With Daniel Bryan

Jericho asks Shawn what his current status is with WWE to which Shawn replies that he's not working behind the scenes in any capacity. He says that every now and then someone will call him with an idea and ask if he has the date open, and that he usually will try to make it if he's available, citing that autumn is usually the time of year when his schedule is fuller. Chris inquires if Shawn asks what the idea is before agreeing to it, and he answers that the first few times it was no big deal, but when it came time to do the angle with Daniel Bryan he was more trepidatious. HBK felt that "a lot of it just didn't make any sense" but he went ahead and did most of what was asked since he's not really worried about protecting his character at this point in the game. He says that the initial plan was for Michaels to hit Bryan with Sweet Chin Music and that was that, and he had to argue that he needed to come back and let Bryan get his revenge by stretching him. This was the angle that had fans frothing at the mouth at the prospect of a Michaels/Bryan showdown but it's clear from Shawn's comments that it was never meant to be anything other than a throwaway segment.
