8 Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On Talk Is Jericho Part 1

1. Michaels vs. Jericho

The 2009 feud between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels is match-for-match one of the greatest ever, rivaling such classics as Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat in match quality and The Von Erichs/Freebirds in pure intensity. If you've not watched the angle in its entirety, finish this article and then boot up the WWE Network and seek it out. It's a hell of a run. It's fun hearing the two discuss what Jericho has repeatedly called his favorite moments of his career, and they detail how the plans for the angle changed fluidly from week to week. Initially it was penciled in as a one-off for Chris to turn heel but both men argued it would be a waste to not explore the feud more. Jericho also calls it one of the best storylines in WWE history and says he used an online timeline someone had posted when revisiting it for his most recent book. He deems the moment when he threw Shawn into the Jeritron his "barbershop", referencing the classic angle that brought about the end of the Rockers. The two banter about how fun it was and how much creative freedom they had, saying they made it a point to throw a little more gasoline on the fire every time it seemed like the angle was losing steam. Part one was fun and you could definitely tell Shawn felt comfortable shooting the breeze with a colleague he respects, as his other recent media appearances have been much less free flowing. Part two will hopefully deliver more of the good stuff. Check it out in a few days, but in the meantime you can listen to this interview at http://podcastone.com/Talk-Is-Jericho
