8 Things We Learned From Steve Austin On Stephanie McMahon's WWE Show

There used to be an old wives tale doing the rounds on message boards that the WWF rented a Corvette then filled it with concrete on Raw. This was completely wrong, but it sounded juicy and made for a better story. 'OMG! Stone Cold destroyed a rental car and cost Vince McMahon even more money!'. Not quite. In fact, McMahon had purchased a brand new Corvette to wreck.

Austin was stunned (ahem) that they'd do that for one segment. Steve is "a car guy", so he told Steph he would've rather been given the Corvette afterwards as a gift than destroy it. However, even he had to admit after seeing the final product that things worked out brilliantly. The car's windows smashed neatly with a satisfying burst once the concrete filled up the Corvette's interior.

From behind the wheel looking on, Steve was heartbroken. There'd been a time when he had to eat raw potatoes to survive because he had zero cash to speak of, and now here he was annihilating a flashy sports car just for TV. It was a lot to take in, and that's saying something considering some of the wild shenanigans 'Stone Cold' got up to during the 'Attitude Era'.

Here's another tidbit: Austin claims is was never his idea to drive any vehicles during shows. That was all on the company, but he was only too happy to oblige because he loves driving and causing carnage. Smashing up a brand new Corvette was tough to take though, 'cause Steve knew how much those things cost.

'Attitude' dollars would cover it.
