8 Things We Learned From WWE's Opening XFL 2020 Games

2. WWE Crossover Was Seriously Limited

Anyone worried about cross-pollination between the XFL and WWE should breathe easy. There was hardly any of it at all across both opening night games.

WWE didn't run hype for WrestleMania 36, there were exactly zero wrestlers in attendance (if any were there, they weren't shown on camera) and players weren't asked between crucial downs who their favourite WWE superstars are. That, it must be said, was unexpected.

The only crossover that did happen didn't intrude on the actual football. The Undertaker's trademark gong did ring out in between some plays, but that's happened in the NFL before too. The same goes for LA Wildcats WR Jordan Smallwood busting out a little Randy Orton pose in celebration of his team's best moments.

San Francisco 49er George Kittle has been known to pull off wrestling poses in the NFL too, and he's even appeared on WWE programming to express his love of The Rock and WWE culture. Minor touches like these aren't problematic in the slightest, and should actually be cheered on.
