8 Things WWE Got Right At WWE Payback 2017
4. Alexa Makes Bliss-tory
If Alexa Bliss doesn't tell the live crowd on RAW that she has made 'bliss-tory', whoever scripts these promos needs to be fired.
Alexa Bliss did indeed make bliss-tory last night, becoming the first woman to hold both the RAW and SmackDown Live Women's Championships. She achieved the former by defeating Bayley, and ending Bayley's title reign was clearly the right idea. The entire division needed a hard reset, and Alexa Bliss represents that.
The match was arguably Bliss' finest too, the first time that her in-ring performance has matched her character chops. The two worked a quick pace and both benefited. The finish was excellent, Bliss winning clean with the DDT but Bayley retaining some heat thanks to the thud of the ringpost shot.
Alexa Bliss has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the 2016 WWE Draft, to say the least. In May 2016 she was developing just fine in NXT - one year later she is the number one female heel on the flagship television show.
